Affiliate Marketing Secret Revealed By 11 Year Old

Affiliate Marketing never seemed as simple as it does tonight. My 11 year old daughter in her own little way showed me how I can make even more money with my affiliate marketing business.

As I was going over some of my web logs and affiliate commission reports tonight she came into my study and asked me “why I sat at the computer for hours”. I told her I was working on my affiliate marketing business and trying to make money. She nodded at me just like her mother does.

As she looked at my monitor and my spreadsheets spread out on the desk I tried to explain to her what I was doing. I explained that I was looking at how many visitors I had on certain days of the week and month and that I was comparing it to the affiliate commissions I had generated during certain days during the month of December.

And then it happened. She looked at me in that way that only little girls can do, and she said to me "Dad, the days you make the most money (from affiliate products) are the same days that...."

Drum Roll please......

"Your bars are way up there." (a reference to my traffic logs).

Not wanting to give her the satisfaction of seeing me have a V-8 moment in front of her, I smiled and said "if it were only that simple sweetheart." She looked at me and said "WHATever." As I sat there with my mouth hanging slightly open, she walked away saying she was going to watch Hanna Montana.

And there you have it, from the mouth of a child. What takes some of us years to understand about affiliate marketing, an 11 year old girl determined in ten minutes.

Sometimes as affiliate marketers we lose sight of the forest for the trees. We spend so much time searching for the magic formula that will propel us to fame and fortune that we lose sight of the basic techniques that are so important to any affiliate marketer.

It took the simple deduction of a child to make me once again understand what makes any affiliate marketer successful.

TRAFFIC! TRAFFIC! TRAFFIC!

Not just any type of traffic mind you. It’s about how much high quality traffic you can generate to your site. That's what truly matters in achieving success in affiliate marketing.

It's all so simple now. Affiliate Marketing is not only a numbers game. It’s a targeted numbers/traffic game. You want visitors on your site that are actually interested in the information that you are providing to them.

If you can attract more high quality visitors through search engine optimization, spending more wisely on PPC, writing more original articles and reviews, getting more inbound links, then you'll have a greater chance of generating more sales through your affiliate marketing promotions.

She's a daggum genius. She does take after her father.

I am now thinking about creating my own original information product around this topic and selling it for 49.97. The only problem I have is that if my daughter finds out, she would probably want to J.V. with me. The best I could give her would be a 75/25 split. I will stick to my guns on that point. I will not sell out to an 11 year old!
